Emmit Ben Schultz Jr, of Cypress, Texas, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones, Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the age of 79 years old. He was born October 2, 1939, to Leona Koehler Schultz and Emmit Schultz in the Latium community, Austin, County, Texas. Emmit was baptized and confirmed at the Wesley Brethren Church, Wesley, Texas. Emmit attended school at County Line, Wesley and graduated in 1958 from Brenham High School. He was in the Army National Guard and spent a year active duty at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he served as a tank commander. He received a letter of commendation for saving a burning tank as the floor filled with fuel, Emmit returned to the tank putting the fire out. Unfortunately this act also rewarded him with two weeks out in the swamp until the tank was repaired. After returning to Brenham he went to work for Housman Wholesale Grocery Supply.

October 5, 1963, he married the love of his life, Faye Weiss Schultz. Emmit decided in 1964 it was time to move to Cypress to broaden his job opportunities.

During the 10 years he worked for Red Ball Motor Freight he received recognition for amount of freight hauled, increase in sales and upon his suggestion Red Ball purchased new tractor trucks with trailers replacing box trucks for city deliveries. A barbecue was held where Emmit was handed the keys to the first of a fleet of trucks that followed. Emmit indeed was an innovator and hard worker, always trying to improve whatever the job may require.

In 1975 Emmit became a co-founder and owner of Triad Sand Corp. He loved good equipment and finding good sand materials. He was an aggressive business man, never tiring of another challenge. Emmit loved to see his employees progress; a number of them would go on to become successful business men on their own.

Emmit's love of cattle eventually brought him to establish 3S Cattle Company. He became known as an outstanding purebred Brahman breeder and competitor in the show ring. It was important to him not gain recognition for himself but for the Brahman breed.

He was a supporter of the Cy-Fair FFA, receiving awards and recognition for his many years of support. It brought him great satisfaction to help and work with young people. Emmit loved giving a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a generous supporter in time and work at Christ United Church whether it was putting in parking lots or being instrumental in the purchasing of property.

Emmit was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Cypress, Texas. He loved and supported the community of Cypress . He considered all his numerous friends as family. It brought him great joy to have parties and celebrate life's events with them. The door to his and Faye's home was always open as their home was known as the gathering place for holidays and just getting together. He was a man of great passion and compassion. His roots in Brenham, Texas had stretched out far beyond the boundaries of Washington and Austin Counties. He was an ordinary man with unlimited dreams and a determination to make them reality.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leona and Emmit Schultz, sister Caroline Schultz, sister Delores Schultz Eckermann and husband Lee Eckermann.

He is survived by his beloved wife, business partner and best friend, Faye Schultz ,his beloved son and business partner Emmit Schultz III and the pride and joy of his life, his grandson Emmit Schultz IV. He is also survived by his brother Jerry Schultz and wife Dinell, sister, Annell Meyer and husband Bobby, sister Evelyn Schultz, daughter by choice Lesa Dugan Stone ,husband Kevin and family, extended family Sue Zuehlke, August Hoffmiester, Linda and Jerry Conner, Flavia and Griselda Guerrero, their families, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends, all who had touched and enriched his life.
Emmit was always proud of his family and their many accomplishments.

Visitation will be at Klein Funeral Home, 9717 Wortham Blvd., Houston, Texas 77065, Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be at Messiah Lutheran Church, 11522 Telge Rd, Cypress, Texas 77429, Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11 a.m.

Interment at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery, 32509 TX-249, Pinehurst, Texas 77362, following church service.

Immediately following interment, family and friends are invited to celebrate Emmit's life with a barbecue, sharing the good times and love Emmit enjoyed with everyone at The Hope Event Center, The Alamo, 12715 Telge Rd., Cypress, Texas 77429. Emmit will be remembered and respected for his determination, generosity and big smile. In lieu of flowers, gifts and memorials can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church and The American Kidney Foundation.
