In Loving Memory of Emma Lou Bishop

Emma Bishop, lovingly known as "Nini" to her family, passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by the love of her closest family.

Born on January 4, 1944, to Homer Jack, Sr. & Dollie Burris in Houston, Texas. Nini lived a life defined by love, strength, generosity, and steady devotion to her family and God. She had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel seen, cared for, and welcomed. She was unwavering in her faith and shared her faithfulness with those around her.

Growing up, she had a love for horses and freedom and was known for being adventurous with a wild spirit with a love of airplanes and motorcycles in her youth. She loved all kinds of music, books, and TV shows but she was particularly fond of Elvis, Kenny Rogers, The Everly Brothers, and Lucille Ball (I Love Lucy).

While she held many roles throughout her life, the role she cherished most was that of mother, grandmother, and later, great-grandmother. To her daughters and grandchildren especially, she was a protector, teacher, confidante, and source of unconditional love. She was always a safe haven, and made sure that if needed, those she loved knew they were welcome in her home.

Nini found joy in the simple things: spending time with family, sharing stories, offering advice, and celebrating life's moments both big and small. Her kindness, resilience, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Frankie Bishop.  Her children Kelley Corwin, Kris Hallinan, Angela Gabrysch, and Sherrie Daniels.  Her sons-in-law, Ed Hallinan, Wayne Gabrysch and Brian Daniels.  Her grandchildren, Alyssa Bryan, Kinsey Gabrysch, Ella Gabrysch, Trey Hallinan, Bobby Gabrysch, Justin Daniels and Frank Aguero.  Her great grandchildren Hector Rojas, Emma Lazar and Theodora Bryan.  Her brother Lloyd Burris and his wife Debbie and her cousin Martha Fitzgerarld.  She had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins of whom she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents Homer Jack Burris, Sr. and Dollie Burris.  Her best friend Ella Mae 'Mopsy' Reeves.

Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we find comfort in knowing that her love remains woven into our lives. We will carry her lessons, her laughter, and her spirit with us always.

The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses, and caregivers who provided compassionate care during her final days.

Nini's life was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be a blessing.
