Elsie Mae Cheslak Stanko, 87 of Houston, TX passed peacefully March 23, 2020 at home
surrounded by her family.
Born May, 7, 1932 in Williamson, Illinois to the late Mike & Elona Kmec Cheslak.
She married George Henry Stanko, Jr. on June 13, 1964. He preceded Elsie in death October 5,
1996.
She is survived by daughter: Sue Stanko of Waco, TX; son and daughter in law: Scott and Rene
Stanko of Tomball, TX; son and daughter in law: Stefan and Katie Stanko of Cypress, TX;
grandchildren: Nicholas Stanko, Haille Brill and husband Nolan, Claire Stanko, Eryn Stanko, and
Jack Stanko; sisters: Ann Cheslak and Emma Jacobs of Staunton, Illinois; and nephew: Robert
Hermanns of Staunton, Illinois.
Mrs. Stanko was a graduate of Livingtson HS in Illinois, she and George raised their family in
Houston, TX. She was a long time member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Houston, TX.
Elsie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was happiest when she was
spending time with her grandchildren.
A private family burial has been scheduled. A service celebrating her life will be held at a later
time.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be directed to St. Timothy Lutheran
Church in Elsie's honor.
