Elsie Reichert

Our beloved Mother and Grandmother Elsie Etta Reichert, age 96, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her bedside on June 15, 2023. She was born January 19, 1927, in a cabin near the Panther Creek area of The Woodlands, Texas and resided in Spring, Texas for her adult life.

Born into a large farming family with 13 brothers and sisters she always said, "We might have been poor, but we worked hard, and Pappa made sure we never went hungry". All the children had chores which Elsie helped with including churning butter, preserving food, cleaning the house and feeding the livestock. Elsie graduated from Conroe High School in 1945. In High School she enjoyed all classes and was a member of the Conroe Basketball team.

She met and married the love of her life Ralph Reichert in July of 1947. They were married for 73 years with Ralph preceding her in death in 2019. Together they owned, operated and managed numerous successful restaurant businesses including "The Dairy Mart" in Spring Texas, a local favorite in the 70's where you could get a delicious cheeseburger for .55cents. Elsie's passion for hospitality, good food and service were instrumental to the success. She and Ralph always maintained a strong faith to God within their marriage and family. They were founding members of St. Edwards Catholic Church where she served on Senior Saints and hospitality committees.

Elsie is survived by her brother Floyd Woodson, sister Shirley Harrel, four children- Carolyn Fleck and husband Ben Fleck, Larry Reichert and wife Chrissy Reichert, Brenda Bayer and husband Steve Bayer, Chris Reichert and wife Brenda Reichert. If you asked her, she would always say she had eight children. Elsie (Grandma, BoBo) will be fondly remembered by her 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren in addition to many beloved nephews and nieces. All of which she loved dearly.

Elsie was a caring, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed being with family and cooking for them. Some of her well-known specialties were homemade chicken and dumplings, and pork chops with rice and sauerkraut. Everything she prepared was mostly from scratch (no recipes needed), including canning and making homemade jellies. Other favorite past times of Elsie's included the visits to the casinos, traveling, gardening and crossword puzzles.

Her favorite occasions included Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter family reunions at her brother Floyds, Annual Fish Fry at brother Harolds and Chicken Frys and Crawfish Boils at her son Larrys. She also enjoyed the occasional Margarita.

Her laughter, humor, smile and love will be greatly missed by all, but we are so blessed to have had her in our lives !

Services for Elsie Reichert will be held as follows:

Viewing and visitation: Tuesday, June 20, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main St., Tomball Texas 77375.

Funeral services: Wednesday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Rd, Spring, Texas, 77389.

Graveside service immediately following church service at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060.
