Elsie Martha Gertrude Schreckenbach Mittelstaedt, 87, born November 19, 1929 in Houston, Texas and died in Tomball on Friday, January 27, 2017 surrounded by her family. She leaves her daughter Linda Lou Hargrave; her son Danny Ray Mittelstaedt and his wife Linda; her son Randy Dale Mittelstaedt and his wife Judy.  She leaves her grandchildren:  Ashlea Danna Mittelstaedt, Jerad Edward Mittelstaedt and his wife Traci, and Meagan Marie Fitzpatrick and her husband Keith; and step-grandchildren Paul Wunderlich, Dane Wunderlich and wife Amy, Wanda Blacklock and husband Wayne.  She also leaves her great-grandchildren Mackenzie Grace Mittelstaedt and Gunner Ray Mittelstaedt; many nieces and nephews; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and so many loved ones who called her "Momma" or "Granny".  Mrs. Mittelstaedt was preceded in death by her husband Oswald Erich "Ozzie" Mittelstaedt, her mother Elsie Kuehm Schreckenbach and father William Frederick Schreckenbach, brother Albert Schreckenbach, sister Marie Theeck, and daughter Betty Jean Mittelstaedt.

Born in Houston, Mrs. Mittelstaedt moved to Tomball as a girl and attended Tomball High School. She soon met her husband Ozzie, and they married on December 9, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring. They were married for 58 years.  They lived in Klein Community where they raised three children and were active members of the community.  Mrs. Mittelstaedt had a passion for flowers, kept several greenhouses, and especially loved growing African violets.  She was active in the Spring-Klein Baseball Association, Klein Volunteer Fire Department, and was an avid genealogist.  She took pride in the many businesses she started with her husband, and truly relished the friends she made through them.

A viewing service will be held at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball on Tuesday January 31, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.   A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.  It will be followed by a burial in the church cemetery, where Mrs. Mittelstaedt will be laid to rest beside her husband.
