Ellen Gray
December 22, 1951 – April 11, 2022
Ellen Gray , cherished wife, mother, grandmother ("Aaji") and friend passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on April 11, 2022.
Born in Cheyonne, Wyoming, Ellen spent her childhood living across the US and abroad with her father (Carl Gray) who served in the US Air Force, her mother (June Gray) and two brothers (Carl and Jim). When Ellen was a teenager, her family moved to the NorthEast. After graduating from Upper Moreland High School, Ellen settled in Pennsylvania where her three children John, Maryellen and Peter were born.
Ellen began her professional career at Acme Markets where she held numerous managerial roles while simultaneously pursuing a Business degree at Temple University. She later transitioned into real estate and eventually landed in corporate relocation services which included a job transfer to Houston, TX. In 2019, she married her long-time love, Ed Butler.
Ellen approached any situation with a positive attitude, determination and gratitude. The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Ellen. She loved spending time outside including long walks in nature, enjoying coffee on her patio and family beach trips. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children and 8 grandchildren
Her optimism, lovable laugh and kindness will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband Ed Butler, son, John Reilly (Usha), daughter Maryellen Bluzard (James), son Peter Reilly and brother Carl Gray Jr. Adored and loved by her grandchildren Leela, Lance, Austin, Matthew, Madison, Drew, Rocket and Raven.
Ellen is preceded in death by her parents (Carl and June Gray) and her brother, Jim Gray.
There will be a private celebration of life for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your local animal rescue in Ellen's honor.
