Ella "Maxine" Onstead
April 28, 1929 - March 8,2024

Maxine went to be with Jesus on March 8, 2024. She would have been 95 on April 28. She was born in Littlefield, Texas to Gertrude and J.E. Johnson. She married her high school sweetheart, Norris Onstead, and they were married for 74 years. Maxine grew up on a farm with four other sisters and loved to ride horses. They had one child, Janith Susan Miller, living in Houston.

Maxine and Norris moved to Abilene, Texas, as Norris was attending Hardin Simmons University, preparing for the ministry. Together, they served several churches across Texas. She taught Sunday School classes, Vacation Bible School, and served wherever needed. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crafting, decorating, and traveling. She always looked nice and enjoyed dressing up. Both she and Norris were members of Champion Forest Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Norris; father, J.E.Johnson; mother, Gertrude Johnson; and four sisters including Eula Faye Roper, Neva Dell Thomas, LaRue Dunnigan, and Jean Garner.

She is survived by her daughter Janith and her husband Jim; two granddaughters Katrina Miller and Krystal Esparza; six great grandchildren including Madison Penley, Maddox Penley, Mayson Penley, Tristan Ramos, Hadley Esparza, and Sophia Esparza; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 P.M. on March 13 at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest, Spring, Texas 77379

A service will be held in the chapel at 10:00 A.M on March 14 at Klein Memorial cemetery chapel on FM 2920 (between Stuebner Airline & Tomball), Tomball, Texas 77375.
