Mrs. Elizabeth Marguerite "Margie" Straka, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, in Magnolia, Texas. A woman of deep faith and enduring love, Margie's life was a testament to devotion—both to her family and to her spiritual calling.

Born on August 17, 1928, in Greenville, Mississippi, Margie grew up with a strong foundation in education and faith. Her early years were spent in Missouri, where she attended Kewanee Elementary School and later graduated from New Madrid High School. She continued her studies at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in Cape Girardeau before pursuing business school in Memphis, Tennessee. Her commitment to learning reflected the diligence and determination that would define her life.

Margie married Richard Straka, and together they built a life rooted in love and resilience. Their marriage spanned an extraordinary seventy years—marked by unwavering support through every season of life. Their union was blessed with three children: Robert Straka, Elise Bales, and David Straka. Though Robert preceded her in death in January, 2013, his memory remained close to Margie's heart. Her husband, Richard, preceded her in death in July, 2024.

Faith played a central role throughout Margie's life. Raised in the United Methodist Church, she instilled those same values in her children. In later years, she found spiritual nourishment within Pentecostal and non-denominational congregations. Her passion for guiding others led her to facilitate small groups for women seeking a deeper relationship with God—a ministry that touched many lives.

Music was another lifelong love for Margie. She especially cherished playing the piano and found joy and solace in melodies that lifted the spirit. Reading was also among her favorite pastimes, particularly immersing herself in the Bible—a source of wisdom and comfort throughout her journey.

Those who knew Margie admired her steadfast devotion to God and the joy she found in music. Her presence brought warmth and inspiration to all who encountered her.

She is lovingly remembered by her son David Straka, in Texas and daughter Elise Bales, in Colorado.
