Obituary

Elendor Fay Carper Detwiler, 93, of Tomball, Texas passed away peacefully on April 24, 2017, surrounded by her three children. She was born on August 11, 1923 in Shelbyville, M issouri.

She was the daughter of Herbert and Flossie Kurry Carper.
Elendor is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Wesley Detwiler (Feb.12,1991). They were married Jan. 10, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri. Elendor attended La Belle High School in LaBelle, Missouri and attended the First Christian Church. After she married, she became a member of the Episcopal Church. She was active in both her church and PTA.  She worked many years in the fashion industry, as a buyer for ladies ready-to-wear and later managed a children's clothing store. Elli always put her family first and her hands were never idle. She was a talented seamstress, decorator, and baker. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and crafting.
Probably no one in her generation had as much as people have today, but she gave all she had. When she worked at the children's store, she always gave special gifts to her many grandchildren. Even between visits, she would mail a box of specially selected items to them. Her generosity and love will never be forgotten.
She is survived by a son, Wesley and his wife, Mildred Detwiler, and two daughters, Amelia and her husband James Horn, and Marcella Detwiler, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Elli's family was everything to her. We will miss her tremendously and we were all blessed to have had her in our lives. It is now comforting to us, knowing she is at peace in heaven.

A memorial service will be held at Davis Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri on June 9, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.
