Eileen Kay Washburn, age 79, of Cypress, Texas passed away on August 6, 2026. Eileen was born on December 17, 1947 in Topeka, Kansas to John and Opal Archibald. She attended Topeka High School before studying at Washburn University. She met her husband, Thomas Washburn, in 1970 at a social club in Topeka. From their first dance together that night, they knew there was a spark between them. They married six months later, on January 2, 1971.
Eileen was a devoted mother to her two sons, Jonathan Kent and Craig Washburn, and often said being a mother was the greatest joy of her life. She was equally devoted to her grandchildren, Alec and June Washburn, showering them with love, gifts, treats, and special surprises for every holiday.
Eileen had a passion for scrapbooking, and lovingly archived decades of family memories that will be cherished for years to come. She and Tom loved to see shows in Las Vegas, and she was thrilled to see her favorite singer, Neil Diamond, perform several times. Eileen was a dedicated Houston Rockets fan, and she and Tom enjoyed the games and community during the years they had season tickets.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Opal Archibald, and son Kent Washburn (March 12, 2022). She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Washburn, son Craig (Jessica) Washburn of Austin, TX, grandchildren Alec and June Washburn, brother Robert Archibald of San Diego, CA, brother-in-law Jack (Lynn) Washburn of Albuquerque, NM, nieces Sarah Washburn and Beth (Jim) Pulido of Albuquerque, NM, nephew Rob Archibald of San Diego, CA, great nephew Daniel Pulido of Albuquerque, NM, and great nieces Ariella and Amanda Archibald of San Diego, CA.
