EDWARD LYNNE LAPHAM, JR . Born November 7, 1937, in Houston, Texas went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2020, in Cypress, Texas at the age of 82.

Edward graduated from Cy-Fair High School where he played baseball, basketball and was involved in FFA where he was part of the Champion State Dairy Judging Team. He went to Blinn College and then to North Texas State University. He began his professional career at  OTECO, Inc. where he met his beloved bride, Nancy Andrews.  His work career began in the warehouse and he worked his way up to Sales Manager which allowed him to travel all over the world. He then went on to start his own business, Greenwood Valve and Manufacturing, Inc. This inspired him to patent the "Hammer Union" and "Non-freeze Butterfly Valve." He began working for and sold his business to Kemper Valve and Fitting, Corp. where he became Vice President of Marketing and Sales.

He was a great patriot and very compassionate about our great country. He handed out copies of the Declaration of Independence and educated those who desired to learn. He took our freedom to vote very seriously and served for several years as a Precinct Judge.

Edward was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.  He loved sharing Christ with others, attending the Men's Prayer Breakfast, Life group and other church activities for many years. He raised his family to love and serve the Lord. He was a former member of Houston Northwest Baptist where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Department Leader and was known for his sourdough biscuits which he baked for the men's prayer breakfast. He was a man of integrity, faith, strength and compassion and was not ashamed to shed a tear when the spirit moved him.

When he retired he enjoyed working at his "Ranch" which was located on John Deere Rd. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren teaching them how to fish, shoot guns, mow with his John Deere Tractor's and chop down tree's. He always left time for playing games, fun and many more outdoor activities. Baking, grilling and being with family and friends brought him great joy.

On December 3, 1960, He married his beautiful bride, Nancy Jane Andrews at Jersey Village Baptist Church in Houston. They were happily married for 59 years and 7 months. There was not a day that went by Edward didn't tell Nancy, "I love you Hunny-bunny!"

The family will receive visitors Monday, August 10, 2020, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Champion Forest Baptist Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline Rd, Houston, TX 77069.  The Chapel is setup for social distancing and your mask is required.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM, Rev. Louis Miori officiating.  Interment to follow in Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, TX 77375.  There will not be a procession to the grave site.
