Edward Louis Gabet, Jr., also known as Uncle Butch or more affectionately called UB, 73, returned to his heavenly home on July 11, 2017 after a brief illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him and ultimately gave him peace.

UB was born to the late Edward and Yvonne Gabet in Houston, TX on January 30, 1944. He was immersed in the Catholic community that would be his lifelong support from an early age.

UB spent his formative years in Houston and Galveston before he would go on to honorably serve in the military. He was blessed with many positive character traits to share with those around him along his earthly journey and h e took on many roles in his life, Air Force veteran, respected member of his church community and bible study and historian were just some of those roles.

UB was the consummate gentleman, always with a smile on his face and ready with a quick-witted joke. He was kind and soft-spoken, and made a positive impression on every person he met. UB also enjoyed the good things in life including art and music, travel and reading, food and wine, and friends and family.   He spent a lot of time researching things he was passionate about, and was quite scholarly about the things he was most passionate about. He is dearly missed by his loved ones who will surely miss him until we are all reunited again. We celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator and we find comfort in knowing that he will continually remain present within both our hearts and minds.

UB was blessed with a small, but loving family. UB is survived by his sister, Joan Raposa and her husband Edward Raposa, of Houston, TX; his niece, Jennifer Graff and her husband, Todd Graff and their children, UB's great-niece, Georgia Graff; and his great-nephew, Anders Graff, all of The Woodlands, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his uncle, Fred "Buddy" Yadon.

Visitation and a Rosary will be held at the Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champions Forest Drive, Spring, TX, on Sunday, July 16th from 5:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be performed at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX 77070, in the Mary Chapel on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10:30 am . A private burial will be held at the Lawndale Cemetery. Klein Funeral Home is handling the services.
