Edward Thompson Crottie, Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Houston, Texas on March 26, 2024. Born in Kane, Pennsylvania the family relocated to Detroit, Michigan where Ed was raised. He became a machinist apprentice and journeyman at Firestone. He worked hard to support his family including his children, Eddie, Debbie and Kevin. Besides being a machinist, he usually had a second job and owned a cleaning company called Karate Maintenance that cleaned fast food restaurants at night.

Even with the long hours, Ed found time to take his children on many road trips.  Traveling in their converted van, they visited many state and national parks including traveling to Florida to visit their grandparents.

In 1980, Ed relocated his family to Houston, Texas where he continued in the machinist trade. He worked hard to improve himself becoming a tool and die engineer working for Dresser, Inc.  He was even able to patent for one of his designs.

During his time in Houston, he met and married Sharon in 1992. Just a few years later, they began raising their granddaughter, Nicole Woodard. He showed Nicole his love of travel and took her on many trips.

Edward was presided in death by siblings E. James and George. He is survived by sister Barbara Olbrich, wife Sharon Crottie, Children Edward (Alice), Deborah (Jon) and Kevin, granddaughter Nicole (James) Fox. Edward has 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
