On November 28, 2019, our beloved "Grandma", Edna Elizabeth Gates Abel, departed this world for her heavenly home.  Elizabeth was born on July 23, 1916, to Dr. William Frederick Gates and Edna Brundige Gates in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin D. Abel, and her precious daughter JoAnn Abel Sparkman, her sister Nell Eiselstein, and her brother Fred Gates.

Elizabeth is survived by her son-in-law, Doyle Wayne Sparkman, granddaughter, Kimberly LaBarbera, her husband Nick, great-grandsons Nicholas and Ryan, granddaughter, Shannon Sparkman, granddaughter, Cristina Sparkman, grandson, Brandon Sparkman, his wife Shelli, great-grandsons, Jude and Preston and great-granddaughter Kylie.

Elizabeth lived a long and beautiful life, full of love and the sharing of many beautiful memories with her family and her many loving and caring friends.
