On May 2, 1923, Edith Margaret Pettinati was born in Morgantown, W. VA to Anna and Andrew Constantino.  She was raised with three brothers and one sister – Louis, Fanny, Albert and Alio.  During the depression, the family moved to Bronx, NY where Edith met her future husband, Fred.  They married on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941, and later moved to Yonkers, NY where they raised their two children, William F. Pettinati and Donna M. Gardner.  Edith lived her life as a devoted wife and mother.

Edith worked as a school baker in the Yonkers Public School system after scoring #1 in the Civil Service test.  She was known to all in the system as a hard worker and an outstanding baker.  Some years after retirement, Edith and Fred moved to Tomball, TX.  She was predeceased by her husband, Fred on December 21, 2011, and missed him each day for the past six years.  They were married for 70 years.

Edith loved her family dearly and considered her life blessed with not only her children, but four grandchildren -- William, Jr. of Houston, TX, and Andrew (predeceased January 2018) of Cape Coral, FL, Melissa Gardner Castillo and Christina Gardner Winsor of Stamford, Connecticut.  She adored her five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Brandon Pettinati, Kellan and Gracyn Winsor and Noelle Castillo.

Edith was a 94-year-old energetic woman who enjoyed fashion and who loved to receive texts and pictures from her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren on her mobile phone.    She was the best coffee-cake and pizzelle maker in the world!   She was a woman who would do anything for anyone in need and one who shared her faith in the Lord.  She placed God first in all she did throughout her life.  Edith was an amazing, beautiful woman – one who will never be replaced.  She was loved by all who knew her and she will remain in their hearts forever.
