Edith Eloise Gooch passed from this life and into Paradise on March 21, 2025. Born February 26, 1929, in Rogersville, Missouri to Shirley and Evelyn Owens, Eloise lived most of her childhood in Chicago IL, while spending summers with her grandparents in Sparta, MO. In 1943 she met the love of her life, Darrell Patrick Gooch, in Springfield MO. Pat was injured at the U.S. Naval base in San Diego prior to shipping out to the Pacific during WWII and spent several months in the Naval hospital recovering from surgery. He mailed Eloise an engagement ring, and following his honorable discharge, Pat and Eloise were married on May 5, 1946. They spent 71 wonderful and happy years together before Pat passed away in May of 2017.

Eloise and Pat lived briefly in Dallas, TX and Springfield, MO but spent most of the early years of their marriage living in Branson, MO. Eloise was a homemaker, busy raising 3 children. She and Pat were faithful members of the Christian Church and the Church of Christ and served their congregations throughout their marriage. After their children were grown, Eloise frequently traveled with Pat during his many business trips, and they enjoyed seeing a great deal of the United States. After Pat retired, they moved to Springfield, MO and volunteered at Cox Hospital for 30 years. Pat and Eloise moved to Houston, TX in 2014 and lived at The Village on the Park senior community, where they had many friends among the residents and staff. Following Pat's death, Eloise grew increasingly close to the staff at VOP, and they became part of her extended family.

Eloise was preceded in death by her father Shirley Owens and her mother Evelyn (Owens) McBrayer and her beloved husband Pat. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Eloise McInnis and her husband Winton of Jasper, AR; sons Darrell Michael Gooch and his wife Michelle of Orrick, MO and John Bradley Gooch and his wife Lisa of The Woodlands, TX; 7 grandchildren: Brian Loughrige, Matthew Gooch, Marissa Gregorwich, Micah Gooch, John Bradley Gooch, II, Patrick Gooch and Andrew Gooch and 11 great-grandchildren.

Eloise will be buried with Pat in the Houston National Cemetery.
