Obituary

Mrs. Edda C. Romero, age 96, of Spring, TX, passed away Wednesday morning, June 8, 2020, at her residence at Park Manor Nursing Home.

She was born June 8, 1924, in Ciego de Avila, Cuba, a daughter of the late Manuel Martin and Zoila Cardozo de Martin.

Edda is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, German Romero and dear son-in-law, Michael Ritter.

Edda arrived to the United States in 1965 with her daughter, Kristina and was reunited with her husband, German, who arrived a month earlier.  She was also reunited with her son, German, who was sent to the U. S. A. in the early 1960's as he was a participant of Operation Peter Pan.  Edda admitted to being a terrible cook when the Romeros' established themselves as residents of New York in the mid 60's.  Her daughter can recall the seemingly endless amount of ham sandwiches fed to the family for lunch and dinner.  Edda decided to dedicate herself to learning how to make delicious meals and excelled in many Cuban dishes, including ropa vieja, among others.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Edda is survived by her daughter, Kristina Ritter and son, German Romero and daughter-in-law Patricia Romero; four grandchildren, German Romero and his spouse, Aida Ruiz, Alejandro Romero, Veronica Journett and Monica Randall and her spouse, David Randall; and six great grandchildren, Julio, Gabriel, and Daniel Journett, Samuel Romero, and Rex and Barrett Randall.  She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
