Earleen Catherine Tritt Stallones was born on February 27, 1930, first child of Dr. Earl Franklin and Gladys Catherine Tritt in San Antonio, Texas. Her father was a military Doctor and she lived in many places with her parents and her beloved brothers, Earl Franklin Tritt, Jr. and John Charles Tritt. Earleen graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio and graduated from the University of Texas with Honors, majoring in Chemistry. She met Troy Stallones when he was finishing his Doctor of Juris Prudence from the University of Texas Law School. Troy was raised in Tomball by his parents, B.E. and Agnes Stallones, with his sister Audria Fay Stallones on the family dairy farm. Troy and Earleen married February 24, 1951, at First Baptist Church Chapel in San Antonio with a precious crowd of loved ones celebrating with them. Troy and Earleen quickly established their married life in Tomball, Texas where they had their five children within 7 years:  Melissa (William), Jennifer (Joe), Tod, Kyle (Lynn) and Jeff (Pam). Our family was enveloped in a prolific group of loving cousins, aunts and uncles, great aunts and great uncles, and a giant crowd of beloved Tomball close friends and neighbors. Mother was the Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for Melissa and Jennifer's large troop of two age groups; Sunday School teacher; bridge player, Garden Club member and community builder through her hospitality and loving spirit. Earleen and Troy kept close contact with Granny and Grandpa Tritt and cousins in San Antonio, and with Big Daddy and Grandmother, and our Aunt Audria Fay and Uncle Dana Johnson and cousins, Gayle Jones and Darleen Baker. Earleen and Troy created a loving home in a small town that made us feel surrounded by love and helpful adults.

Earleen became Nani, when her grandchildren started arriving in 1978, although her first grandchild, Lauren Leigh Knippa, was Heaven-bound at her birth. Nani made every single grandchild feel like they were treasured and adored. Her grandchildren included Cathleen Knippa Wenger, Noah & Michael Knippa; Lara Stembridge Miller, Jay, Leslie & Ryan Stembridge; Kevin Stallones; Brittany Stallones Hillert, Kristen Stallones Hernandez, Jason Stallones; Melanie Bristow Wilson and Kyle Bristow.

Earleen was blessed to extend her Nani love to her Great Grands – Weston Chase, Adella Ruth, Gideon Malone, Carson Bennett Wenger; Keaton William & Claire Catherine Knippa; Keziah Elise, Kai Tod, and Alida Grace Knippa; Seth Alen, Benjamin Arthur & Luke Adam Miller; DeUndre Martavious Robertson, II; Wren Elise & Theo James Stembridge; Charlotte Michelle (Charlee) & Colter (Colt) Hillert; and Colin & Miles Wilson.

Nani lived out her love for family as a caregiver, supporter, and encourager to all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with loved ones and was incredibly hospitable. She enjoyed watching British historical television series. When in her seventies and eighties, she became a family genealogy detective and archiver. She embraced technology even into her nineties sending texts and using FaceTime and Facebook to stay connected to her loved ones.

Memories of Nani include her taking grandkids to the Galveston library for our summertime long stays to stock up for reading binges in the Galveston beach house. She loved grand shopping excursions for new school clothes, hours and hours of reading aloud to us, playing Scrabble and Rummikub together for many hours of laughter and learning. Nani's broccoli and rice casserole is still the epic staple of our family culinary history and the original family recipe is our treasure!

Earleen knew on Wednesday that she was going to Heaven soon. After a quiet moment of reflection, she grinned at Melissa and said, "I sure do wish I could have gotten that permanent last Wednesday!" (interrupted by her ER visit that day). Then she spent the next three hours discussing the attributes of what she might wear to the funeral, making several specific suggestions and where to find each article. She is wearing one of her selections today, honoring her keen mind and thoughtful spirit to her very end. That was Nani, always focused on helping others and taking care of the details so that others could relax and enjoy their time together.

We love you all and are so thankful for your love and kindness toward our Mother and our family. May God fill your homes with grace, nurturing love and kind forgiveness. God Bless each of us this day and always!

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home-Tomball. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home-Tomball. Burial will follow at Klein Memorial Park 249.
