Doyle Stuckey, 96,  passed away at his home on May 23, 2024, surrounded by family. Doyle was born May 8, 1928, in Dallas, TX , the fourth of five children born to James D. and Rae Miller Stuckey. He graduated from Huntsville High School, served his country in the U.S. Marines, and upon honorable discharge, returned to Huntsville to attend Sam Houston State University. While in college, he met Edloe Weems. They married on October 22, 1948, and had three sons, Wick, Kevin, and Derek.

Doyle was a homebuilder and founder of Doyle Stuckey Homes, a family-owned company that became one of the largest privately owned homebuilding companies in Houston. With great ambition and a strong work ethic, he expanded his business interests to include land development, apartment and hotel development and banking.

Doyle was a natural leader, offering his time and talents to several professional, religious, and charitable  organizations. He served on the Board of Directors and as Past President of the Greater Houston Builders Association and the Texas Builders Association. He also served on the Boards of Directors of the Texas Housing Agency, the National Association of Homebuilders and of several local banks.

Doyle was a member of the Board of Trustees of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, where he also taught Sunday School. He was a longstanding member of the Forrest Masonic Lodge, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, and he served as Potentate of Arabia Shrine Temple in 1967. He was a committed supporter of Young Life, The Mission of Yahweh, the Leukemia Society, Shriner's Hospital for Children, Sam Houston State University, and his local church.

Doyle is predeceased by his parents, his wife Edloe, his son Derek, and siblings James T. Stuckey, Dorothy Baker and Nina Walker. He is survived by his sister, Bettye Rae Francis, sons Wick (Rita) and Kevin (Deborah) Stuckey, grandchildren Whitten, Katie, Ryan, Parker, Megan, Nelson and Taylor, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Maria Garcia and Laura Flores for their loving care for Doyle during the last years of his life.

A Memorial Service celebrating Doyle's life will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay HTX 77024. Gifts in Doyle's memory may be made to the Chapelwood Foundation at the above address, or the charity of your choice.
