Doug was born on Tuesday, December 17th, 1957 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At the age of 14 he and his family moved to Houston. Doug graduated from Aldine High School in 1976. After graduation he went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad (now Union Pacific) as a high line electrician. During his career he became certified as a Master Electrician. In 1985, he married Suzanne Smith of Memphis,Tennessee and they were blessed with two children, Alexandra (Alex) and Austin. His family was the most important thing in his life. He was involved in all of their activities. He coached them on ball teams, helped raise livestock, and passed on his love of hunting. He loved entertaining friends and family and was known for his outdoor cooking skills. He earned the nickname "Funcle" Doug for his love of fun with his nieces and nephews. He was an accomplished artisan in many areas, including woodworking, welding and ornamental ironwork. He was skilled in auto mechanics and loved restoring classic cars.
He is preceded in death by his parents Owen and El Louise Hatchett Reynolds. Doug is survived by his wife and children, a sister, Renea Reynolds of Houston, two sisters-in-law; Sarah (Mark) Pfaffenroth and Nancy (Keith) Faust and one brother-in-law, George Marquis Smith as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
