Obituary

Dorothy May Goedecke Salyers was born on March 20, 1933 and passed away March 26, 2025. She lived in Spring, Texas all but a few years of her life. Dorothy married the love of her life, John Roy Salyers, who was also her childhood sweetheart. Dorothy and John raised their two daughters in Spring and forged many friendships throughout the years. Dorothy will be remembered for many things such as her perfectly coiffed hair, her love of shopping, red cars, and her love of family. She cherished her role as wife, mother, and homemaker. She was her family's best advocate in all circumstances. She had a servant's heart as she cared for her parents and mother-in-law in their later years. As a young girl, her mother took her to Spring Baptist Church and she was baptized in Spring Creek. She knew Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and took her daughters to Spring Baptist where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was a faithful member for 82 years. Because Dorothy knew the eternal importance of teaching her children about Jesus, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren know Jesus and her legacy of faith will live on. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, her parents Carl and May Goedecke, her older siblings Robert, Mabel and Nellie, and her infant great-granddaughter Thyme Lafara Pegoda. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters and their husbands, Susie & Mario Perez and Laure & Kenneth Pegoda. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and include Matt & Tabbie Pegoda and their children Remington, Ruger & Bluebonnet; Rachel & Jason Neathery and their children Reagan, Johnny, Ty & Roy; Meghan Perez, Shelby Perez and Crockett & Makenzie Pegoda and their children Posey and Willow. Dorothy is also survived by her younger sister, Carleen Nagy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will always fondly remember her and the unconditional love she shared with them.
