Dorothy Nell Pennix (affectionately known by her grandkids as Granny and Gran-Gran), 79, passed away on June 10th, 2017 in Tomball, Texas. A visitation will be held at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball on June 15, 2017 at 5:00pm. The funeral service will be at Klein Funeral Home Chapel in Tomball as well on Friday, June 16th at 10:00am. Graveside to follow.
She was born to Elmer and Claudia Holmes on September 5, 1937 in Cooper, Texas.
Dorothy was married to Wesley C. Pennix until his death in 1984. They had two children together. Wesley Glen Pennix and Nancy Trina Hale.
She was primarily a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family fence business until her husband's death at which time she went to work in the payroll office of Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District. She retired from the District in June of 2003. Since that time she filled her days attending the grandchildren's many events as well as served on the Board for the Home Owner's Association at Regency Oaks, the community in which she lived. These were the things she enjoyed most in her final years.
Dorothy had five grandchildren: Robert (Robbie) Hale, Trent Hale, Breann Pennix, Madison Pennix, and Christopher Pennix.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Claudia Holmes, her husband Wesley C. Pennix, her daughter, Nancy Pennix Hale, and her brother, Elmer Joe Holmes.
She is survived by:
Her son Wesley Glen Pennix and his wife – daughter in law Benta Pennix, son in law Robert Hale and her beloved grandchildren: Robby Hale, Trent Hale, Breann Pennix, Madison Pennix, and Christopher Pennix. Also her sisters Betty Brewer, Nada Crouch and husband Carrell, Margaret Eudy and husband Dean, Judy Petty and Husband Rick, Marie Lowery, and sister in law Lulu Holmes Hill. Also many nieces and nephews and loving friends.
The funeral service will be officiated by Dean Eudy.
