Dorothy Marie Parker was born on January 18, 1941, in Jones County, Mississippi.
Dorothy graduated from Calhoun High School in 1959. She would have never mentioned it, because of her kind, gentle, and humble spirit, but she was Homecoming Queen, participated in basketball and cheerleading, and was active in many other school functions. On September 3rd, 1959, she married Thomas "Larry" Parker.
Dorothy and Larry had two children, Tommy and Teresa. Larry's job took them all over the country as the kids were growing up. Through many moves and changes, Dorothy remained the glue that held the family together, no matter where they lived. Once her kids went to school, Dorothy worked outside of the home. However, her favorite job title was wife, mom and "Nanny" (grandma). She enjoyed experiencing life with her kids and grandkids. She was often more concerned with others' needs. Dorothy always made it a point to connect with and make people feel treasured. She is leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. In the way that she lived her life, she inspired all those who knew her. She is loved and will be missed by so many.
Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called Dorothy home on January 4th, 2025. She joined her parents, Jiggs Welborn and Dezzie McKinley, her beloved husband Larry, and son Tommy, her brothers Ronald, Chet and Larry, and many other family and friends who made the glorious journey before her.
She leaves behind a wonderful legacy and many wonderful memories to her daughter Teresa (Kenneth) Vahrenkamp Renee Zahn, grandchildren - Sydney (Tommy) Castille, Taylor Vahrenkamp, Dustin Parker, and Ranee (Britain) Bentz, and great-grandson-Samuel Castille.
