Dorothy Carmen Dumont Kobus passed away on Thursday, February 25 at the age of 82.  Dorothy was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Dorothy Barnett Dumont Toth and Ralph Dumont Sr.  She was raised in Eastlake, Ohio one block from the shore of Lake Erie.  It was here that she met the love of her life, Lawrence Charles Scot Kobus – the brother of one of her 1956 high school classmates at Willoughby Union High School.  After they married, they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan while Scot finished his degree followed by a few years in The Hague, Netherlands.  Finally, in 1967, Dorothy arrived in Houston, Texas where she vowed never again to live in a place with cold winters.

In Houston, Dorothy raised her only child.  She also attended University of Houston, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Accountancy – passing the CPA exam on her first attempt.  She eventually ran her own practice while also keeping track of horses, cattle, a pack of dogs, and countless barn cats out in Tomball.  Even after moving back to the city, Dorothy continued to look out for strays and care for them as best as she could.

Dorothy was defined by her intelligence and her kindness.  She was known for her sweet demeanor, though she also had a sneaky wit and penchant for subtle wordplay.  Born a Leo, she adopted the lioness as her personal symbol.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cordelia Kobus Bucher; four grandchildren, Scot Bucher, Colette Bucher, Tristan Bucher, and Michael Bucher; and two sisters, Laura McGarry and Nancy Dumont.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Scot; her parents; and her brother Ralph Dumont Jr.
