Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our mother, Dorothy Cheryl Cheney Holder, born in Pittsburg, Texas on October 1, 1944, and passed away in The Woodlands, Texas on January 13, 2025.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.  She attended Tomball High School and was a stay home mom and didn't start working until her girls were in High School.  She started working at Armour Meats and then took a job at Fred S. James and Company.  She worked many positions as a customer service rep, supervisor and claims processor handling Exxon employee benefits.  She started church when she very young somewhere in Pittsburg, Tx.  She married our dad, James Calvin "J.C." Holder on June 4, 1960 in Lindale Baptist Church and they were married 64 years.  Later they attended Hidden Valley Baptist Church.  Then they moved to Spring, Tx to raise their family in late 1966 and moved their membership to Spring Baptist Church in 1967.  She accepted Christ and was baptized at 9 years old.  She has been a member of Spring Baptist Church for approximately 55 years.  Although she couldn't go to church physically anymore, she would watch Brother Mark Estep preach from the comfort of her home.  She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Ousley and husband Rod, Darla Watkins and husband Tim, Delinda Turner and husband Jon; her grandchildren, Kassi Foster and husband Kyle, Wesley Ousley and wife Brandy, Tim Watkins, Jr. and wife Kristen, Darryl Ousley and wife Brandie, Jon Turner II and wife Cari, and Tyler Ousley and wife Fancy; her great-grandchildren, Brayden Shirley, Lexy Ousley, Braxton Ousley, Kasyn Ousley, Callyn Ousley, Kennedy Blincoe, Kaleigh Blincoe, Jaxyn Ousley, Kylie Foster, Kaleb Foster, Klein Watkins, Presley Watkins, Emma Turner, Analeigh Turner, Bryce Miles, and Blake Thomas; and her great-great-granddaughter Jayleigh Darby; and her sister Sonoma Davis.  She is preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Holder; father, Earl Cheney; her mother and step father, LeeAnne & Bob Gunn;  grandchildren, James Calvin Turner and Chaynie Grayce Ousley; siblings Earlene Jones, Jimmy Cheney, Charlsey McKenna, Jean Carlton, Brenda Davis, Elaine and Earl Cheney.  Visitation Service for immediate family will begin at 9:00 am, Visitation Service for the public will be 9:30 am with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 10:00 am on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Spring Baptist Church, 633 E Louetta Rd, Spring, TX 77373. A procession to Klein Memorial Park Spring-Klein will immediately follow the funeral service.  The family would like to express much thanks to Pastor Barry Klempnauer who will be officiating the Celebration of Life Service and the Graveside Service.  The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Billnitzer (Methodist Neurology & Movement Disorder), Methodist Hospital The Woodlands doctors, nurses and staff in ICU and her sweet Sunday School Class with Spring Baptist Church.
