Our amazing mother, Dorothy Louise Hendry Hester was born on January 10, 1944, in Crockett, Texas and passed away on March 30, 2023, in Spring, Texas. She was 79 and surrounded by loved ones when she passed. We are heartbroken to lose someone so special.
She was a wonderful woman who will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle Hester Jr, her sister, Donna Hendry Graham and her parents John D. and Laverne Hendry.
She is survived by her children Deanna and Jeff Wesner of Spring, Texas and Dennis and Patty Hester of Greeley, Colorado; grandchildren, Taylor Wesner, Clint Hester, Wyatt Hester, Alexandra Wesner, and Austin Wesner; siblings, Gary and Sofia Hendry, Kenneth Hendry, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with lifelong friends Greg and Eddie Gerstle, and their children Debbie and Mike.
Dorothy was a strong independent lady. She left East Texas in 1962 to go to the big city of Houston where she met Doyle Hester, Jr. They began their loving marriage in 1963 and were married until Doyle passed in 2007. She worked as an accountant for the same company for 53 years. Sewing, ceramics, painting, and attending Broadway musicals were a few of her hobbies. She enjoyed traveling and some of her favorite adventures were trips to Alaska, Europe, New York City, Hawaii, and Colorado. She loved spending time with her family and absolutely adored all of her grandchildren. Everyone knew of Dorothy's love of cats. Her favorite were Calico cats. We cannot remember a time when she didn't have at least one cat and usually two or three along with numerous cat knickknacks.
No words can express how much this incredible and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
A funeral service for Dorothy Hester will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375 to be immediately followed by burial at the Klein Cemetery next to her husband.
