Dorothy "Dottie" Jean Elliott was invited by Jesus to join the choir in Heaven on Sunday, February 23 ^rd at the age of 74.

Dottie was born in San Antonio, Texas to Jean and Howard Bierstedt.  Although she would always claim Texas as home, her family moved more times than you can count following her career Air Force father around the country.  Eventually they landed in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Dottie studied Art at the University of New Mexico and met her forever sweetheart Edwin Elliott.  Dottie and Ed were married in 1966 in Albuquerque, ultimately enjoying nearly 54 years together in marriage.

After college, job opportunities sent them briefly to Connecticut, then on to Wisconsin where she and Ed settled to begin their family.   Three of their four children were born in Wisconsin, then with baby number four on the way, opportunities returned the Elliott's home to Texas where they would stay.

Dottie's relationship with Christ was paramount and was exemplified in so many ways throughout her life.  One big example is seen through the 35 plus years she led and served as a leader in women's Bible Study (CBS).  She cared deeply that others would learn and know the word of God, and most importantly that her family would as well.

Art continued to be a passion Dottie pursued.  Her love of art was shown in many ways, one of which was her "shmoo" character that made its way onto each handmade card she created and gave for each birthday and graduation.  Painting, sketching, designing, calligraphy, cake decorating, you name it and she could master it.

Dottie's dedication to her role as wife and mother was always a primary focus of her life.  Ed always came home to fresh vacuum cleaner lines in the carpet and a hot dinner ready to be served.  The kids woke daily to a hot breakfast and a packed lunch for school.  Family holiday celebrations spent at her home were filled with fun and laughter and way too much food.  Known by the kid's friends as our local "June Cleaver", she cared and catered to every wayward friend that wandered through the door.  No one left without a hug and a full stomach.  Following and supporting the kids and grandkid's sports and activities highlighted many a week night and weekend.  Dottie bounced from flute lessons to soccer to volleyball to football.  She was a "soccer mom" before "soccer moms" were cool.

She will be missed by her college sweetheart Edwin; sister Patricia; children Laura and Jim, William and Kimberly, Daniel and Brittany, and Rebecca; grandchildren Jake, Austin, Alexis and Joe, Madison, McKenzie, Gunnar, Gage and Brandon; and great granddaughter Alaina.
