Obituary

Dorothy Breaux, known by those who loved her as Dot, passed away on February 27, 2025, at home in Tomball, Texas surrounded by loving family.  Dot was born February 5, 1940, to Johnnie and Carrie Derkowski in Chapel Hill, Texas.  The family moved to The Heights in Houston in Dorothy's childhood, where she had to learn English, having spoken only Polish in Chapel Hill.

She met her life's love, Thomas Breaux, whom she married on November 7, 1959.  This union would last 65 years and bless them with four children.  In 1971, Dorothy and her family moved to Tomball, Texas. Here, Dot and Tommy built the family business, Breaux Machine Works, which they ran together for 47 years.  She had a natural gift for managing the office, and the sacrifice and dedication of these two, working together, gave their children the rare opportunity to build the business along with them.

Dot, or "Meemaw" to her grandchildren, enjoyed games with her abundant family, days on the beach in Galveston and Sargent, and celebrations at their ranch in Anderson.  Her grace and class were unfailing. Anyone lucky enough to know her was met with her generous spirit and kind words.  It was her role as matriarch that produced the tight-knit family to which we all belong today.  We will use her example as wife, mother, and grandmother to continue building the family that she began.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Cole Chambers.  She is survived by her husband, Thomas Breaux, sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Michelle Breaux, Gary and Raye Breaux and Jimmy and Tracy Breaux, daughter and son-in-law Dena and Michael Chambers, brother Johnnie Ray Derkowski and sister Carrie Derkowski.  Dorothy leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball on March 3, 2025 from 5:30pm - 8:00pm, with a recitation of the rosary beginning at 5:00 pm.  The funeral will be at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Navasota, Texas.
