Dorothy, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother departed this earth to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 28, 2020. She passed peacefully at the age of 94 at Grace Care Center of Cypress where she had been a resident for the past 3 ½.years.

Born in Greenville Alabama in 1926 she was one of eleven children to the late Irving and Sally Pouncey. She was the last surviving sibling to this large and loving family, from which Dorothy has numerous nieces and nephews and extended family who loved her dearly. She married AG Wasden in 1944 from whom she had two daughters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Benton and Jane Long, husband Gary. She is further survived by granddaughters Sheri Benton and Shelia Wiggs, husband Kenneth and her great granddaughters, Brianna Benton, Savannah Wiggs and Cassie Benton.

Dorothy has lived in several cities in Alabama, Florida, as well as Austin, Houston and Cypress, Texas. She Austin and Houston, Texas. After moving to Houston, she was employed by Weingarten's Grocery chain for many years and later retired. She is remembered as a very hard worker and devoted employee, even though she was raising two children as a single parent and had many challenges.

She married Walton Boyle in 1958 and enjoyed many happy times traveling, camping and boating with her family. Unfortunately, Walton met with a tragic accident in 1982; but Dorothy overcame her loss through her faith and her extended family.

Happily, a number of years later she married a wonderful man, Charles Long, whom she had met through her church and she moved to Magnolia, Texas to enjoy country living. When Charles retired, they bought a motor home, which had been a dream of Dorothy's for a long time. They took many trips over the country to visit friends and family. However, again, Dorothy suffered another tragic loss when Charles suddenly passed while they were away on one of their camping trips. Although their time together was shortened, they were devoted to each other and shared wonderful times and adventures.

Camping, with her grandchildren, extended family, Charles and especially her twin sister, Dot, and her grandchildren as well, was what filled her life with pleasure.

She was a strong, brave and resourceful lady. She loved nature so much that even after Charles's death she would go to the State Parks by herself in the motor home. She would not hesitate to get in her car and drive to Alabama to see family members and continued to visit her daughter, Jane, in Florida. She was a remarkable woman and determined to live her life to the fullest for as long as she was able.

Dorothy was a long time member of Southwinds Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member. Her church family remembers her as a "Sweet Lady" and one who always crossed the aisle on a Sunday morning to speak with them and give them a hug or warm greeting of welcome.

Dorothy's family meant everything to her and she enjoyed each and every moment with them. She always looked forward to Sundays where they were always getting together for dinner and quality time. Her extended family was especially precious to her as well and she had many enjoyable get-to-gathers on holidays and special events. She especially enjoyed the annual Pouncey Family Reunion in Alabama each July 4th weekend and the ones held later in Houston as the first cousins got older.

She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was a one of a kind lady and a beautiful soul who will remain in our hearts forever.
