Dorothy Ann Blankenship's Obituary
Dorothy Ann Blankenship was born on December 23, 1946 in Boonville, Missouri and passed away at her home on October 9, 2020 in Spring, Texas. She is a graduate of Westbury High School and she received her bachelor's degree with a double major in English and Journalism from Sam Houston State University. After earning her Teacher Certification, she began her teaching career. Later, she pursued her Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist from University of Houston. As a retired teacher and a life long learner she earned her Texas Master Gardener certification through the Texas A&M University Extension Program. Dorothy's love of the English language and heart for teaching lead her to serve as a teacher of English as a Second Language in the International Friendship ministry at Champion Forest Baptist church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Dewayne Blankenship, and her parents, Clyde Walker, Jr. and Dorothy Irene Walker.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Dina Vinson and husband Bryan, and Darla Carr and husband Brad; grandchildren, David El-Khazen, Ethan El-Khazen, Ben Vinson, Jacob Blankenship, and Danielle Vinson; brother, Randy Walker and wife Deanna; brother-in-law, Randall
Blankenship and wife Sonia, and Dennis Blankenship and wife Rebecca; and several nieces and nephews along with numerous other family members and life long friends.
The Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Champion Forest Baptist church, 15555 Stuebner Airline Rd. with Pastor Chris Smartt officiating.
Dorothy was a cancer survivor and participated in a medical trial that contributed to future research and treatment for Hodgkin's disease at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in the early 1970's. For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.
