Dorothy Malinda Heldberg, born September 10, 1923, in Monthalia, Texas, was a beloved wife, mother, and active member of the Tomball community.

Dorothy's journey began in the classrooms of Harwood Elementary School in Gonzales, Texas, and later graduated from Cypress-Fairbanks High School in 1942.

In 1943, Dorothy graduated from Draughons Business College in Houston, Texas. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Elmer Lee Beckendorf. They married on July 5, 1946, at Oakwood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas, and were married 68 years at the time of his passing in 2014.

Dorothy's life was marked by dedication and service. She served as a Secretary at American Rice Growers, Inc. from 1944 to 1945 and later as a payroll clerk at T. J. Bettis Real Estate from 1945 to 1946. However, her most fulfilling role began in 1947 when she embraced the joys and challenges of being a devoted housewife and mother to her three children: Charles, Kenneth, and Mildred.

A woman of unwavering faith, Dorothy was committed to serving others. As a member of Rosehill Methodist Church for over seven decades, she served in various capacities including Sunday School Teacher, Administrative Board Secretary, Council of Ministries Chairperson, United Methodist Women president, and loved cooking for the annual Rosehill Chili Supper.

Beyond the church walls, Dorothy's spirit of service extended to her involvement in the Tomball Garden Club, Tomball Community Hospital Auxiliary, Tomball Independent School District PTA, and was named Citizen of the Year in 2013.

Dorothy is remembered for her servant's heart, kindness, and unwavering faith. Many say she had a heart as big as Texas. To anyone who knew her was to be loved by her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire generations to come.
