Doris Elaine Svec was called home on August 4, 2023.  She was born to Alice and Edward Quade October 19,1934.

She was a graduate of Cy-Fair High School Class of 1952 where she was the Salutatorian of her class. There she discovered her love for the sport of volleyball and was a member of the varsity team.  She continued to enjoy that sport into adulthood and played in competitions at a Czech fraternal gymnastic organization known as Sokol.  Doris grew up in Cypress and lived there her whole life.  Her family was among the early settlers of the rural community that became Cypress, where farming and agriculture were the mainstay.  Growing up, she enjoyed many good times at church socials, dances and gatherings at Tin Hall. Soon after graduation she married, remained in Cypress and raised three children--Charlaine, Gary and Troy Petrzelka.  She was an avid gardener--potted plants in particular--and became very skilled at baking Czech pastries.  Her life revolved around family and friends . . . especially her loyal little dog, Nugget.  Her house was the gathering spot for many holiday and family celebrations where her mac 'n cheese was everyone's favorite.

Before having children, she was a clerk at the Cypress Post Office which, at that time, was a one room office next to Juergen's Store.  She later resumed her career as postal clerk at the Cypress U.S. Post Office, which eventually moved to its current location.  Doris was a very sociable person and enjoyed her days at the post office; working there gave her a chance to keep up with everyone she knew in the community.  She had the good fortune to maintain numerous childhood friendships that lasted a lifetime, a rarity these days.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents Alice Dossman and Edward Quade, husband of 20 years Bill Svec, stepson Charles Svec and her beloved dog Nugget.  She is survived by her children: daughter Charlaine Byers and husband Jeffery, son Gary Petrzelka and wife Teri, and son Troy Petrzelka.  Grandchildren: Jennifer Petrzelka Dial and husband Erik, Stanton Petrzelka, Dillon Byers and wife Mini, Hailey Byers English and husband Austin, Holly Petrzelka, Crystal Petrzelka and Clint Petrzelka. Stepchildren: Shirley Jack and husband Steve, Barbara Greenstein and husband Tommy and Marianne Svec.  Step-grandchildren: Leslie Sorrell Myers and husband Hal, Jodie Sorrel Tag and husband Jason, Ernie Sorrel, Melody Hansel Burt and husband William, Jamie Hansel and wife Elizabeth, Tracy Svec Burris and husband Tim, Cheryl Svec Ray and husband Cory, Jennifer Svec Plant and husband Stephen, John Svec and numerous great and great, great grandchildren.

Doris is also survived by her constant and loving companion Ana Rodriguez, who was instrumental in helping her recover from an extended illness 12 years ago.  They became close friends and spent time together 5 days a week for over 10 years. They both doted on and loved to spoil Nugget.  Up until the very end, they saw or spoke to each other nearly every day.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main Street Tomball Texas 77375.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 10th, 2023 at 9:00 AM at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main Street Tomball, Texas 77375.  Interment to follow at 11:00 AM in  Brookside Memorial Park 13747 Eastex Freeway Houston, Texas 77039
