Obituary

Doris Joan Culver Sampson
Born August 6, 1928, in Abilene, Texas.
Passed away February 8, 2022 at 6:06 pm.
Age 93 Years 7 Months 11 days.

Her name was spelt Joan but pronounced JoAnn. She was a loving and involved figure in her family and leaves behind four generations of family members. She was kind, wise and always knew the right thing to say. During her attendance at Kilgore College, she was a member of The Kilgore Rangerettes precision dance team, after all once a Rangerette is a ' Rangerette Forever' .  She and, her husband, Joe met in high school and built a family together while running successful dry cleaning businesses from the suburbs of Houston to Freeport, TX before retiring to Tomball.  In sharing her steadfast Christian Faith then matured her into becoming a powerful prayer warrior with a deep connection to the Lord. In Tomball she continued to devote herself to her family, church, neighbors and friends. For years she performed a thorough search successfully justifying family lineage for membership to The Daughters of the American Revolution . As a family we all agree she was the very best cook and would be more than happy to share any meal on her table. She made a mean meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, and a good ol' pot of any kind of beans. She enjoyed the simple things in life; it was enough to live on her favorite meal of Pinto Beans and cornbread. Jam Cake and Pecan Pie was a staple in Christmas traditions. She was loved by many and will be missed by many family members, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband of 75 years ,
Joseph (Joe) Bailey Sampson Jr.
and then her parents,
Herman Scott Culver and Vera Loraine Wilkins-Culver
