Obituary

Doris June Kilgore-Childers, 83, of College Station, Texas, passed from this life on the morning of June 8th 2026.

Doris was born on May 3rd, 1943 to Mildred Grossman-Kilgore and Joe Fisher Kilgore at St. Joseph's in Houston, Texas. She grew up alongside her beloved sister Bettie-Jo.

At Magnolia High School, Doris lettered in basketball and cheerleading. She later graduated from Massey Business College and became a secretary at the FBI. Her later and long career with Avon and the friendships she made there were much loved.

It was at her graduation party that she met her future husband, Leon. Doris and Leon were married on July 7, 1962, and shared more than 55 years together in a marriage filled with love for their family, their dogs, and one another.

Doris loved the beach, the Astros, Louisiana & Las Vegas trips, crafts, quilting, sewing, cooking, painting, her dogs, and her family.

Those left to cherish her memories are: her sister Bettie. Daughters Darlene and Malinda. Son-in-law Jeff. Daughter-in-law Mishann. Grandchildren Trevor, Heather, Rachel, Joseph, Megan, and Brennan. Sisters-in-law: Elda, Joann, Linda, and Beverly. Nieces: Bettie Lynne, Donna, Debbie, Pam, Rene, Vickie, Patty, Beverly, Jennifer & Tracy,

Nephews: James, Anthony, Alan, Jimmy, and Brandon. Our friends. Many great nieces and great nephews. And Great-Grandsons: Nash, Wyatt, and coming this August: Parker.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Joe. StepDad Warr. Husband Leon. Son Wayne. Sisters-in-law Jimmie and Susie. Brothers-in-law Don, Rudy, Kenneth, and Pat. And Nephews, Richard, Jackie, and Shannon.

Though she has left this world, she will live on in the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories created. She will be missed.
