DOREEN SYLVIA HARVEY

Doreen Harvey, 70, of Houston, TX, succumbed to lung cancer and departed her loving family at home at 9:30pm on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

Doreen was born in Glengoffe, St. Catherine, Jamaica W.I. on February 26, 1951 to Adassah Richards and Oscar Thomas.

Doreen was the wife of Raphael Harvey for over 41 years; the mother to their child Raphael (Dwain) Harvey, Jr. (Monica); and the grandmother to Raphael (Neko) Harvey, III, Karrington, and Trevor. Doreen raised her son with love and devotion and her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She always mentioned that her son and daughter-in-law, Monica, blessed her with three wonderful grandchildren. Doreen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their activities and events, and they, likewise, loved spending time with their grandmother.

Doreen has been a longstanding member of Champion Forest Baptist Church where she participated in Sunday school and enjoyed fellowshipping with her prayer group. Doreen attended Lone Star Community College and worked at Klein Bank. Furthermore, Doreen had a passion for cooking and gardening, and everyone loved her pecan pies.

Doreen is survived by her husband, Raphael; her son Dwain; her daughter-in-law, Monica; and her grandchildren Neko, Karrington, and Trevor.

In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren that Doreen loved and nurtured, she is survived by one brother and seven sisters, one sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doreen's family and friends will miss the way she prayed for them as well as her warm smile and words of encouragement.

Viewing will be held at Klein Funeral Home on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 6pm – 8pm. Funeral service will be held at Champion Forest Baptist Church on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11am, with viewing starting at 10:00am. Pastor Ed Ethridge will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.
