Dora "Dorie" Scott Damuth, 90, of Magnolia, passed away January 22, 2024.  She was born May 21, 1933, in Jasper County, Texas to the late Archie Scott and Fairy Smith.

Dorie was raised a small-town country girl in Buna, Texas.  After graduating with just a handful of classmates she was off to the University of Texas & immersed herself in all it had to offer, especially social activities. Before she graduated her sister was getting married to a close friend of Bo Damuth.

Bo and Sid Goodloe had just graduated from Texas A&M and Bo picked her up for the wedding and they fell in love.  They were married shortly thereafter at the Tomball Rodeo.  She never returned to UT.

Dorie became a mother and exceptional homemaker and was very involved in Church, community, and school activities in Magnolia.  Then in 1967 she entered the Mrs. Texas Pageant and won.  At the Mrs. USA Pageant she was runner up which made her Mrs. USA Savings Bond. This was during the Vietnam War, and she traveled all over the world and the USA promoting US Saving Bonds and developed her exceptional speaking abilities which she utilized in her professional career as a convention and activities planner and her other achievements.

Then in the early 1970's she was hired by legendary oilman George Mitchell and was instrumental in the development of the Township of The Woodlands.  She and Bo always raised livestock and being an ex-Longhorn student, she loved the longhorn breed.  They began to raise the longhorns and at one time had over 200 head.  There are still longhorns grazing today in the pasture by her house in Magnolia where she lived most of her life until her death.

She became very involved in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo serving in many committees through the years and became the first female chairperson of the Speakers Committee and Lifetime Director.  She also was very involved in the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association showing longhorns and then being a part of the leadership of the Association for the remainder of her life.  She was also a key figure in establishing the NASA Longhorn Project which continues today at the Johnson Space Center facilities.

Dorie was loved by hundreds of people she came in contact with in all of her various activities and will be missed by all.

Dorie is survived by her only son, G. Scott Damuth and wife Shery Damuth; grandson, Phillip Damuth and wife Taffany Damuth who gave her three great-grandsons, Cooper, Maverick and Ace.  She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Ann Goodloe and half-sisters, Elly Soler, Tessie Cunningham and Missy Graham.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Carswell, Phillip Damuth, Don Dean, Matthew Mizell, Clifford Smith and Bobby Cliett.
