Obituary

Donna Mary Hecker Shearer was called home to be with the Lord on February 23rd, 2021 at the age of 79 in Houston, Texas. Donna was born December 10, 1941 in Hinsdale, Illinois to Julius Frederick Hecker and Harriett Lucinda Weatherwax. She spent her youth in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she graduated from Sioux Falls Washington High and later attended Iowa State University where she was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and completed her B.S. in home economics. Like her two brothers, Donna was a natural athlete and took pride in playing alongside them in sports of all kinds whenever she had the chance. She excelled in tennis and won numerous tournaments even up into adulthood. Donna loved all things "art" – from sketching, painting and home design to her love of music and her success as a master seamstress and small business owner. She delighted in bringing her own special sparkle, sequin, feather and flare to every project she would undertake, no matter how small. Donna was a social butterfly and enjoyed spending time with friends, family and especially her beloved "grands" as she called them. She managed to find a way to spoil each one in her own unique way and she will be greatly missed by all. Donna was preceded in death by her older brother, John "Fred" Hecker and her son, Eron Clarke. She is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Richard Shearer of Houston, TX; son & daughter-in-law Payson & Stacey Clarke of Richmond, TX; stepchildren John & Kaye Collins of Conroe, TX, John & Terri Sexton of Trinity, TX, Michelle Shearer of Tomball, TX, Richard & Victoria Shearer of Tomball, TX; brother Frank Hecker of Phoenix, AZ; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service honoring her life will be held on Friday, March 5th, 2021 at 10am at Believer's Fellowship Church located at 21603 Rhodes Rd, Spring, TX 77388. Face masks are strongly suggested.
