It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Donald Evan Ricketts on August 1, 2024. Born to Majors Edward and Vine McKenzie Ricketts of The Salvation Army on March 22, 1936, in Jamaica, Donald was the second youngest of seven siblings, all of whom have preceded him in death.

A man of exceptional talent and unwavering faith, Don, known as Uncle Evan to his close family, enjoyed a distinguished career as an engineer and project manager, leaving an indelible mark on his profession. His dedication and integrity were evident in all his endeavors, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Don was a devoted soldier of the Salvation Army, serving with deep commitment and love for the Lord. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he made significant contributions to his community through his service. He played the euphonium with great skill and pride, and over the years, he served as Corps Bandmaster and Corps Sergeant Major, reflecting his dedication to both his faith and music.

Married to his beloved wife, Silma Ricketts, for over 60 wonderful years, Don was a loving father to Deirdre Ricketts and Tiffany Ricketts-Sadrzadeh, and father-in-law to Arta Sadrzadeh. His family was his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them, especially during vacations that created lasting memories.

An avid golfer, Don found joy and relaxation on the greens. His passion for learning was evident in his love for reading and solving crossword puzzles. He was also a devoted Bible scholar whose deep knowledge and insights inspired those around him.

A Promoted to Glory memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on August 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Salvation Army Houston Northwest Corps located at 12507 Windfern Rd, Houston, TX 77064. Those unable to attend in person may view the service online on the Salvation Army Houston Northwest Corps Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army Houston Northwest Corps
