Donald Eugene Ikard, age 85, went home to the Lord on March 17, 2022. His devotion to his family and belief in the living God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Don was born in Wichita Falls, TX on November 13, 1936 to Gene and Nell Ikard. Don moved throughout his childhood and graduated high school in Seminole, TX. He then moved to Farmington, NM to work for his uncle until he married his high school sweetheart Donni Jean Stanley on May 31, 1957. The couple made their home in Aztec, NM until he was transferred to Gallup, NM. In Gallup, Don and Donni welcomed their two sons, Robert Paul and Jonathon Clay. After 20 years in Gallup, the family moved to Baton Rouge, LA where he worked for Shell Oil for 14 years. Don then retired and moved back to Texas. They settled in Brenham, TX and attended Brenham's First Baptist Church for 20 years. Don served in the preschool ministry teaching Sunday School there for 16 years as well as serving on other church committees. Don and Donni then moved to Lake Conroe in 2017 and began attending First Baptist Church in Magnolia with their granddaughter and family.

Don had a love for missions and went on many missionary trips with Texas Baptist Men within the United States and in Canada, Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. He built churches, did various types of disaster relief work, and drilled water wells. In addition, Don volunteered at Miracle Farms in Brenham for many years and with Bread Partners of Brenham.

Don was a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and had many friends. Don was a man of God and will be dearly missed by every one that knew him. Don had a life well lived.

Don is survived by his wife, Donni of 64 years, his son Paul and son Jonathon; grandchildren, John Paul, Will, Luke, Andrew, Quinton, Kyle, Kassie and Kellie-Ann and great grandchildren, Lily, Charlotte, Olivia, Everly, Elise and Talia.
