Donald Upshur Doggett, Jr.

Donald U. Doggett, Jr. passed away on December 30, 2022 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born February 17, 1929 in Richmond, Virginia to Donald and Lillie Doggett and was one of four children.

Don went to work for Standard Oil Company (New Jersey), now ExxonMobil, right out of high school and worked his way through the University of Richmond. During this time, he married his high school sweetheart, Connie Jones. He subsequently served in the Army in the Korean War.

Don lost Connie to a long illness after 49 years of wonderful marriage. He then met and later married Eileen Henthorne in 2001, and she provided him with 17 years of love, happiness, and shared joy of family, reading, and travel. Don lost Eileen to ALS on March 14, 2018. As he had frequently said, he was blessed with beautiful marriages.

Don is survived by his daughters Corby Klecka and her husband Bill and children Chris and Emma; Donna Tessmer her husband Jim and children Andrew and Rachel; stepchildren John Henthorne his wife Lisa and children Scott and Colin; Neil Henthorne and his wife Mary Beth and son Tyler; Dr. Michelle Hudson and her husband Jason and children Katelyn and Brett; and his brother William Doggett and wife Mary Jo.

Don retired from Exxon after 38 years of an extremely rewarding and happy career and then volunteered as a management counselor and lecturer with the Service Corps of Retired Executives for 25 years. Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with family on January 14, 2023 from 4-6 pm at Klein Funeral Home (16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Don's memory to the charity of your choice.
