Dolores Renn Long's Obituary
Dolores Renn Lassiter Long, 84, went home to be with the Lord after a battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis-ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease on August 24, 2019 in CHI St Luke's Hospital in Lufkin, Texas.
Dolores was born and raised in Salisbury, NC on January 5, 1935 to Darice E. and Mabel Harris Ervin. She was one of 5 children. She was first married to Zane Lassister, whom she met in NC and was married to for 39 years before divorcing. Living in NC, Chicago, and then moved to Houston, Tx to settle and have 3 children-Cheryl, Randy and Darin. In 1969 the family moved to Tomball, Texas, North of Houston.
Dolores resided in Tomball after her divorce and eventually met Wayne Long to whom she was married for 23 years. After residing in Tomball, they then lived in Crockett, Tx and then living in their final residence in Grapeland, Tx for 15+ years.
Dolores had various jobs throughout her life, but she enjoyed her job as a school bus driver for the Klein ISD the most, working there for 23 years before retirement. She loved taking vacations with family, takings photos, reading, writing in notebooks of her daily life and was a collector of many things.
Dolores loved dining out with her husband Wayne at Red Lobster each month on the 25th, as this special day, was the day they not only met, but also the day the were married. So this became their favorite number. She especially loved her dachshund, "Jaycee", as he meant the world to her.
Dolores is survived by her 3 children: daughter Cheryl Lassiter, sons Randy Lassiter, Darin Lassiter and his wife Beverly; her 6 grandchildren, Christy and husband Bill Venturi, Tammy and husband Steve Wesley, Bonnie and husband Jeff Ahring, Alisha, Micah and Israel Lassiter; her 8 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Gabrielle, Benjamin, Lacy, Mackenzie, Tucker, Sadie, and Winnie and by her brother Tommy Ervin. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Zane Lassiter and Wayne Long; parents, Darice and Mabel Ervin; brothers, Sonny and Jerry Ervin; sister, Linda Ervin.
She was a good wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She will be missed.We love you, mom.
