Beloved mother, wife, daughter and friend Diane Stone Mangum passed away on March 20, 2021, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 77.  Diane was born on March 4, 1944, to Lena Viola Hall Stone and Edward Moroni Stone. She had two older siblings: Dorothy Stone Thomas and Rudy Stone. Diane was married to Donald Payne Mangum on Aug. 9, 1967, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they were the parents of seven children: Don, Marc, Mitch, Adam, Rachel, Matt and Sam.  Diane grew up in Houston graduating from Jefferson Davis High School where she participated in many activities, including being elected class president. She then moved to Provo, Utah, to attend Brigham Young University where she earned a degree in elementary education cum laude. While working as an elementary school teacher, she began dating the love of her life, Don. After getting married, they lived in San Antonio, Texas, during Don's time in the Army, and then lived most of their marriage in three places: Sandy, Utah; Norwell, Mass.; and Spring, Texas.  Diane loved music. Her house was always filled with it, either playing the piano or with her children making music or listening to her favorite artists, like Neil Diamond. She enjoyed painting, making crafts, scrapbooking, watching BYU football, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and could strike up a conversation with anyone she met.  Diane was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. She served for decades in many assignments in the church, much of the time serving with the youth. Often citing the example of her parents, she believed that serving others was something you just did, and she instilled that desire and ethic in her children.

Diane is survived by her husband of nearly fifty-four years, Don, as well as five of her seven children: Don Mangum, Jr. (Jean), Adam Mangum (Kathleen), Rachel Mangum-Bartholemew (Theresa), Matt Mangum (Jen), and Sam Mangum. She is also survived by twenty-three of her twenty-four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson who will be arriving soon. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister, one grandchild, and two of her children: Marc Mangum (Jenn) and Mitch Mangum.
