Obituary

Diane Brim Brand, age 67, of Houston, Texas passed away on June 12, 2021.  Diane was born in New York City on September 14, 1953, to Donald and Rosemary (Rozich) Brim.  The family moved to Findlay, Ohio in 1955 where Diane grew up, graduating from Findlay High School in 1971.  She earned an associate degree from International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was a Certified Professional Secretary.  At the time, she was the youngest CPS in Ohio.

Diane was married in 1981 in Findlay, Ohio in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Theresa.  Diane had the opportunity to travel the world extensively and had especially fond memories of the 13 years she lived in Egypt and Syria, where she was known for teaching aerobic dance, her generosity in organizing charity events and hosting large dinner parties.

Diane was the crafter extraordinaire. She had a lifelong love of sewing and smocking. One of Diane's favorite activities was participating in "MO Friends", a group of ladies who periodically get together for spiritual weekend retreats. Diane's sewing skills were a great asset to the group's charitable sewing projects benefitting children in foreign countries.

Diane also had a keen interest in cross stitch and embroidery, and her projects adorn not only her home but many others. She loved embroidering baby outfits and receiving blankets for the Catholic Charity Guild gift shop.

Diane was legendary in the art of cake and cookie decorating. She was always on call for making elaborately decorated cakes for neighborhood occasions and enjoyed putting on cookie decorating workshops for all her friends. She was happy to oblige anyone needing cakes or cookies for showers, parties, anniversaries and birthdays. She especially enjoyed making cookies for the nurses and medical staff that supported her through her cancer journey.

Diane taught aerobic dancing for 26 years, and enjoyed snowmobiling, water and snow skiing, working at Charity Guilt, and served for 20 years as a board member on her homeowner's association.  She was the go-to person for organizing neighborhood events.

Diane's generosity and willingness to volunteer and organize events was a common thread throughout her life.  She was also devoted to her numerous friends, who sustained her through her most difficult times.

Diane is survived by her husband of 40 years, Roderick James T. Brand, and their two sons, Nicholas and Ian; her sisters Dr. Theresa Brim (Kenneth Kwochka), Dr. Jayne Brim Box (Paul Box) and Joanne Brim; her brothers Peter Brim (Debra), Stephen Brim, Douglas Brim and John Brim (Pamela); nephews Michael Brim and Evan Brim; and nieces Natalie Brim, Michelle Brim, Maria Brim Box and Anna Brim Box.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Rosemary Brim.

The funeral service will be held on June 22 at 1:30 pm at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19223 Tomball Parkway, Houston in the Mary Chapel.
