Diana Blalock's Story
On August 20, 1951, Diana Blalock came into this world. She was one of three children born to Harry and Mary Wirzberg.
Diana was a joyful bright spirit who grew up in Spring, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Roger Blalock. The two love birds were married two years later. They took time to grow and get to know each other before they decided to have kids 10 years later. The first for the pair was Stephanie and two years later they welcomed Nolan. Fast forward to 2003 and she welcomed her first grandchild. Very soon more followed.
Diana's life felt complete. She had a loving husband, two great kids, a daughter-in-law, and four wonderful grandkids. Diana loved her family very much. She gave up everything to care for her family, starting with her mother who developed Huntington Disease. She would have a baby on the hip while caring for her mom and making dinner. Some would say that is Superwoman, but we all know that was just Diana.
"My mom was the world to me and my sister. She was the one we went to when we were scared, hurt, or just didn't feel good. Even when things went great, we still went to mom. She was always there to give up advice or to push us in the right direction. She would even let us fall and fail just to teach us how to get back up and start again. She made our house a home and a safe place to be in. Mom, we will always love and miss you".

On July 4, 2017, Diana was admitted into the hospital with an altered mental status. From the looks of everything she appeared to have had a stroke, however that was not the case. We found out she had swelling on the brain as well as a Severe UTI and E-coli. Within the following 24 hours she coded twice and since she did not have a DNR she was brought back. They transferred her to the ICU and started treatment for Pneumonia and Sepsis. She was also placed on a ventilator. We signed a DNR for her and seven days later, with no improvement, we as a family chose to withdraw care and make her comfortable. She passed
away 18 hours later at 4:05am on Thursday July 13, 2017.
A memorial service celebrating Diana's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, TX 77065.
If desired, the family suggests memorial donations to the Shriner's Children's Hospitals or St. Jude Children's Hospitals.
