Dian Marie Petersen On August 30, 2016, Dian Marie Petersen passed away. She was born on May 7, 1943, the son of Richard Lee and Grace Lestsinger Lee She grew up in Kokomo, Indiana and graduated from Kokomo High School where she met and married George Petersen on January 4, 1964. Her love for her family and church kept her involved with leading brownie scout troups, being home room mother for her children's schools, chairing the school's PTOs and teaching religious education classes while her children Angi and Michelle were in school in Indiana, Wisconsin, Belgium and Texas.

She devoted the later half of her years to working with Special Olympics and working with special education at her granddaughter and grandson's Heather and Michael's school, Klein Collins High School. She not only coached the basketball and volleyball teams for Special Olympics, but was also the head of delegation for the Klein Starz team in Spring, TX. A few weeks before her passing, she received the award for the 2016 Greater Houston Area Volunteer of the Year. Her love and passion for animals, including her dog Snickers, granddog Pippi, cats Simba, Scooby, Freddy, Jazi and Sunshine also led her to one her last dreams of working with her dear friends in the future opening of the best doggie daycare in Texas. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, George Petersen, daughters Angi Petersen Schwartz and Michelle Petersen Goss, granddaughter Heather Hobbs, and grandson Michael Hobbs.

Her funeral is at 11 a.m. on September 6 at Christ The Good Shepherd, with her friend of over 40 years, Fr. John Kiefer officiating. Burial will follow at Klein Memorial Park (Spring-Klein), with a celebration of life at HomePlace of Texas at 2:00 p.m. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. on September 4 at Klein Funeral Home Champions.
