Derrick was born in Houston, TX on February 27, 1984 to Ronald Pumphrey, Sr. and Cynthia Pumphrey. He graduated from Klein Oak High School and received a degree in Business from Capella University.
He was affectionately known at times with immediate family as Mr. Derrick. Throughout his life he faced hardships that he overcame with grace and dignity. He loved playing jokes on people, because laughing and smiling were who he was, he had a great smile. More than anything in the world Derrick loved and adored all 4 of his daughters. His source of endearment and enjoyment was just watching them grow into young women. He loved them beyond words and encouraged them to be the best they could and to always push for greatness. He also loved to barbecue, but his favorite meat to smoke was brisket, which was often requested for holidays or birthdays, which he'd give as a gift.
Having lived a fruitful and blessed life, Derrick's destiny here on Earth has been fulfilled. God, in his infinite wisdom, called him home into his loving grace on May 6, 2025.
In passing, he leaves to cherish his loving memories: his daughters, Nevaeh Pumphrey-Williams, Kyra Pumphrey, Kiana Pumphrey, and Kyleigh Pumphrey. As well as, his mother Cynthia Pumphrey, brother Anthony Pumphrey and sister Candice Pumphrey-Godfrey, nephews: Brendan, Austin, Tierce, and Paxton. And the love of his life Natalie Pumphrey.
