1949    –    Dennis N. Winters    –    2024

Dennis Neal Winters was surrounded by his loving family when God called him home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Dennis was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on May 7, 1949, to Jonah (Joe) and Thelma Bozell Winters. He grew up there with his older sister Sheryl, older brothers Royce and Verlin, and numerous friends and family members he remained close to for the entirety of his life.

Dennis attended Putnam City High School and finished his education at Central State University in Oklahoma. Following his time in school, he entered the retail clothing space where he eventually met his close friend and business partner, Jim Cone. Together, Dennis and Jim opened Harmony – a clothing store that grew to be the largest beachwear retailer in Texas. Dennis spent the next 45 years self-employed in the clothing industry, where he met several of his wonderful, lifelong, friends.

In March of 1979, he met his wife, Terri Hiett Winters, while she was shopping at Harmony. They married on January 8, 1982. Throughout their 42 years of marriage, they raised two sons, Cory and Cale, and they loved to spend time with family and friends. Dennis was a joyful, positive, and spirited man. He was a loyal friend and an amazing and loving father to his two boys. He was always present for their school and sports activities, he made time for them each and every day, and he supported and nurtured their passions. Dennis was always there for the people around him, and he had a generous heart and an unwavering love for his family and friends.

Dennis also had a love for sports, and particularly for golf. He spent much of his time with friends, or with his sons, on the golf course. Along with that, he loved going to the gym, mowing his yard, classic cars, and rock'n'roll. In his later years, he spent time chasing auto auctions and playing golf with his best friends.

Dennis had a beautiful outlook on life. He was full of gratitude and love, and his faith in Jesus Christ gave him strength, peace, and joy. Having never met a stranger, his positivity, spirited nature, and happiness, brought smiles to all. He was a great and loyal friend and a loving and caring father and husband. He will forever be missed, but we take great comfort in knowing we will be with him again in heaven one day.
