Obituary

Dennis J. Sweeney was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 24, 1945. He passed away in his home on June 24, 2022 in Spring, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine Sweeney, and his siblings, John, David, and Patty Sweeney.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Suellyn Sweeney; his children, D. Sean Sweeney and wife Jennifer, Bryan Sweeney and wife Kelle, and Lyndsay Sweeney; grandchildren, Rylee Sweeney, Delaney Sweeney, Sean Patrick Sweeney, Ashlyn Ryall, Emery Sweeney, and Brayden Sweeney.
Dennis was the first in his family to go to college, attending Youngstown State University. Upon graduation he worked for Ford Motor Company. He eventually took over his father-in-law's aluminum siding business for five years. After selling it, he took a job with E.G. Smith which transferred him to Chicago for 5 years, and then ultimately to his home in Houston. After many years he started his own company, MetalForm Products, until retiring in 2013.

Dennis lived his life to the fullest, always happy and joking around with others. He had such an infectious personality, able to make friends with anyone he met, and was constantly making up his own jokes and songs. When his sons were young, he coached them in football and baseball, and would never miss a game for any one of his children. He was always supportive of his daughter, whether it was sports or going to every one of her performances.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were extremely important to him, and he was proud to call himself Irish. A major highlight of his life was when he had the opportunity to travel to Ireland, where he got to watch the Steelers play against the Chicago Bears.

He was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He stayed close in contact with his fraternity brothers years after he graduated college, calling and seeing them frequently. He kept each one of them close to his heart. To this day, he was still friends with his high school and college buddies, a real testament to just how truly wonderful Dennis was to all.

He will be greatly missed by all his friends in Houston as well.

A celebration of Dennis' life will be held at 6pm on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Spring, TX 77379.  A funeral mass for Dennis will be held at 11am on Friday, July 15 2022 at Christ The Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 18511 Klein Church Rd, Spring, TX 77379 to be followed by a reception.  He will be laid to rest in Klein Memorial Park in Tomball, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis' name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Christ The Good Shepherd Building Foundation .
