DENICE DERRINGER passed away unexpectedly, late in the evening of May 4, 2026, in St Luke's Hospital the Vintage, as a result of complications of a ruptured appendix surgery in the week preceding her untimely death. The world is a darker place without the light of her vibrant incandescence and devotion to her loved ones.
Denice was born March 19, 1966, at Highland Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, and lived most of her life in Texas. Married to Bernie Derringer in 1996, in a beautiful lakefront ceremony at the Oasis in Lakeway, attended by Bernie's children Tiffany and Brian. The Derringers welcomed their daughter, Brittany Danielle, into the world on January 31, 1997.
Denice's career in the energy industry was her driving force, and she loved the opportunities to learn and travel. Brittany was an accomplished ballerina, and her mother and father never missed a performance, and spent countless days and nights building and painting sets and making costumes, and acting as crew. The family loved music and concerts, traveling, snow skiing, and sunny beaches. Kauai was their special happy place.
Dog rescue was Denice's passion, and she never met a stray she didn't love. Their home was always shared with several 4-legged love nuggets and she helped find homes, medical and food sources for countless others. Tails wagged when she walked into a room.
Denice is survived by her heartbroken family, the love of her life, Bernie Derringer; her daughter, Brittany Derringer and fiancé Luke Roberts, daughter Tiffany Sutherland and husband Jonathan Hoffman, and son Brian Derringer and wife Keila, her grandchildren, Gracelee and Emilee Sutherland and Casey Hoffman, Kenzley and Blaine Derringer, her mother and father, Joe and Jenifer Stein, her brothers, Robert and Scott Stein and their wives, Carol and Gisele Stein, and a large tribe of cousins throughout Texas and Louisiana.
