.Debbie Blackshear was a beloved wife, mom, granny, friend, leader, advocate, and active community member. After a long and hard-fought journey following a severe case of Covid in 2021, she is whole, healed, and at the feet of her Savior.

Debra "Debbie" Elaine Hauck Blackshear was born on June 15, 1953 at Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas to Charlie Hauck, Jr. and Patsy Tarkington Hauck. Debbie passed away peacefully in her home on February 7, 2026 surrounded by those she loved most.

Debbie grew up in Houston, Texas. She graduated from John H. Reagan Sr. High School in 1971 where she was a proud Reagan Red Coat. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, and remained an active member into adulthood. Her most cherished memories from her childhood were of her friends and involvement at Zion.

The most important thing in her life was her family. Debbie married the love of her life, Paul Blackshear, on May 19, 1973 at Zion Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2023 and were blessed with 52 years of marriage. They welcomed two sons together, Jason and Jeremy "J.P." Blackshear in 1976 and 1977, respectively.  Debbie loved being a Granny. She had a special bond with each of her grandkids, investing in what they cared about and always showing up for them. As a Mom and Granny, she never missed a field day, sporting event, cheer competition, theatre performance, awards ceremony, orchestra concert, or livestock show. Out of all of her accomplishments, she was most proud to be Paul's wife, Jason & J.P.'s mom, and Brooke, Brandon, Briley, Mackenzie, Jackson, and Adalynn's Granny. Her family was the greatest joy of her life.

Paul, Debbie, and their boys became members of the Cypress community in 1978. There is truly nobody who loved her community more than she did. Both Paul and Debbie grew up in Houston, but chose to move to Cypress specifically for the school district. Both of her sons, both daughters-in-law, and all six grandkids attended Cy-Fair ISD schools.

Debbie began working at Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union in 1984. She worked as a Receptionist, Teller, Loan Processor, Loan Officer, Credit Manager, and Vice President of Lending until she began her 18-year tenure as President in 1994. The credit union philosophy  of "people helping people" was not just her professional mission, but her personal mission that was deeply ingrained in everything she did. She embodied this mission from her early days as a loan officer through her time as a President, never forgetting the person behind the member number.

Debbie was a committed and faithful leader in the Cypress community. She served on many committees and boards, including: Cy-Fair American Heart Association Board of Directors, serving as HeartWalk Chair in 2008; Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce, as an individual member and then serving on the Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee; Cy-Fair Education Foundation, serving as Second Vice Chair, First Vice Chair, Chairman, Past Chairman, Executive Leadership Committee and Salute to our Heroes Co-Chair; LSC/Cy-Fair President's Advisory Committee; Towne Lake Management District Board of Directors; Cy-Hope Board of Directors, serving as Secretary; Houston Chapter of Credit Unions; and Texas Credit Union Leaders PAC Chair and Vice President.

Her commitment to students and education in her community led to her being elected to the Cy-Fair ISD Board of Trustees in 2015. Debbie served for 2 terms from 2015-2023. Her greatest passions were kids and education, which was evident in the ways she invested her time and resources, encouraging those around her to do the same.

Debbie had a special place in her heart for the CFISD Livestock Show. She was a buyer and volunteer since 1990. She committed her life to the service of others, and was an avid supporter of the John Fox Chamber Herd which exists to support exhibitors at the Livestock Show by purchasing their animals, which then are donated to local ministries. At the 2026 CFISD Livestock Show and Sale, the Debbie Blackshear FFA Member of the Year Award was established in her honor. This esteemed honor will recognize an outstanding FFA student who demonstrates exceptional leadership, dedication, and character. Her legacy of advocating for agriculture education and student leadership development will not soon be forgotten by the Cy-Fair ISD FFA Community.

In addition to her service in the Cypress community, Debbie was also an active member of Good Shepherd Methodist Church. She loved her Sunday School, founded the Bereavement Committee, supported Boys and Girls Country through Cottage Birthday Parties and more, and encouraged her congregation to partner with the CFISD community through the Adopt-a-School program.

She spent her 72 years devoted to selfless service, abundant generosity, and intentional hospitality that truly made a difference in the lives of those around her. No matter where she was serving, whether it was hosting holidays, baking cheesecakes, or giving to others, she did it with her whole heart and never stopped challenging others to get involved in their community.

Debbie is survived by her husband Paul, sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Cynthia Blackshear and Jeremy and Courtney Blackshear, grandchildren Brooke Lauren Blackshear, Brandon Paul Blackshear, Briley Kathryn Blackshear, Mackenzie Leigh Blackshear, Jackson Paul Blackshear, and Adalynn Taylor Rendon. She also is survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and those whom she adopted as her own.

Preceding her in death is her father, Charlie Hauck, Jr., mother, Patsy Tarkington Hauck, brother, Donald Charlie Hauck, father-in-law, John Blackshear, and mother-in-law, Irma Kaase Blackshear.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 16 at 11:00 in the morning at Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Cypress with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, she has asked that donations be given to The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation or Good Shepherd Methodist Church.
